Giving Gifts Straight from the Heart

Christmas has always been my favorite holiday, not for the gifts, but for the aromas. Grandma's house had the best aromas: an enchanting blend of spices, fruits, sweets, and evergreens. I loved sitting there, just taking it all in. When the weather gets cold, I start blending with aromatic warming spices, like cinnamon, clove, and ginger, and I am swept back to Christmas at Grandma's house.
This year, as every year, as it is time to start cranking up the holiday creativity, I hit a wall. So I made myself a cup of herbal spice tea and took a moment to enjoy the warmth, the aroma, the flavors, and the memories. I still do not feel creative (I am not creative), but I enjoyed my tea. But then I thought...aromatic herbal teas paired with room sprays for Christmas gifts this year!

Making Them Gift-Worthy
Part of the joy of giving herbal tea Christmas gifts lies in the presentation. Simple packaging makes these blends feel special without a lot of fuss:
Use clean glass jars (recycled ones work great)
Add handwritten tags with the tea name, ingredients, and brewing instructions
Slip a cinnamon stick or dried orange slice under the ribbon
Pair your tea jar with a mug and a tea diffuser for a complete gift
Include a matching room spray for a special touch
A Lovely Hont-o-Scent
I didn't plan to make room sprays this year, but once I started thinking about pairing scents with the teas, it seemed like a natural fit. They're simple to make and smell wonderful.
Basic DIY 2-oz Room Spray Recipe
0.5 oz high-proof alcohol (such as Everclear)
~1.5 oz distilled water
20-24 drops of essential oil
Quick Tip: Alcohol helps the essential oils blend evenly and also acts as a natural preservative. A simple method is to fill about one-third of the bottle with alcohol, add your essential oil drops, and top off with distilled water to the shoulder. Shake well before each use and always label your blend.
Final Thoughts
Go brew yourself a lovely, warming, comforting cup of tea, and before you know it, you will be blending up batches for everyone on your list. There is something special about giving gifts made by hand, especially when they bring comfort with every sip. Homemade herbal tea blends truly share love, care, and joy in each cup.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. -Galatians 5:22-23
